[Bio-Linux] Drawing biological pathways with PathVisio

Hi All,

I've just been trying out the PathVisio tool (www.pathvisio.org) for
editing biological pathways, and thought it might be of interest to
people on this list. I've not yet had a chance to add the package to
Bio-Linux but this isn't a problem as it can be run in one click via
Java Webstart - see:

http://www.pathvisio.org/wiki/PathVisioDownload

My usual tool of choice for editing graphics is Inkscape (inkscape.org,
available on Bio-Linux via Synaptic). However, this is a big and
complex tool and of course has no awareness of the meaning of biological
pathways nor any pre-made pathway files to work with. PathVisio is much
more suited to this specific task.

I've been talking to one of the authors of PathVisio who said he would
like to encourage its uptake by Bio-Linux users, and of course it is
always useful (and gratifying) to hear that people are making use of the
software, so if you have any comments please do share them on this list.

Cheers,

TIM
